Isle Casino Racing
When the Isle Casino first heard the idea of Shipwreck Park, and the economic benefits of sinking a large vessel off the coast of Pompano Beach, they quickly became interested. Increased local tourism dollars would not only have a direct benefit on revenues, but there was the chance to get more involved with the Community, support the arts, and support the fantastic cause of rebuilding our threatened reefs. They thought so highly of those ideas that they jumped at the chance to become a majority partner for sinking the first vessel, as well as seat two company officers on the board of Shipwreck Park.
Throughout the entire process of acquiring, towing, preparing, developing artwork, and sinking the Newton Creek (now known as the Lady Luck), the Isle directly assisted Shipwreck Park with every step of the process. They matched the City of Pompano’s initial funding of Shipwreck Park, and assisted in raising the additional funds needed. It was a spectacular opportunity to play a key role in the international excitement that Shipwreck Park has created, not to mention having assisted in protecting and growing Pompano’s underwater environment.
